Births don’t always go according to plan. At GV Health, we have to plan for the unplanned and prepare, in advance, for any possible crisis event.

For this reason, GV Health midwifery, obstetric and anaesthetic staff participated in a real-life training scenario this year to be prepared to better respond to emergency situations. This training will now be offered several times per year, ongoing.

Mock scenarios were created, such as attending to a bleeding patient post-pregnancy or someone with high blood pressure and a range of possible complications.

The staff enjoyed participating in the sessions and reported that it was a real bonding, ream building exercise that also resulted in improvements to their emergency response skills.
