Goulburn Valley Health continues to focus on enhancing its clinical governance systems to align with the Victorian Department of Health’s Clinical Governance Policy Framework and its four domains of quality and safety; consumer participation, clinical effectiveness, effective workforce and risk management.

Main achievements include the introduction of:

  • Leadership Patient Safety Walk-Arounds through the wards and departments, involving the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Medical Officer and the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer.
  • An organisation-wide risk management training program with favourable staff feedback.
  • The introduction of a Clinical Outcomes Review Committee, a multidisciplinary clinical team to review adverse and sentinel events.
